    Featuring William J Riedy.

     

    Executive Director, The Security Network Bill has been with The Security Network since 2007. He has an extensive management background in catering in San Francisco that has been a key factor in the successful organization of our multiple annual events. He also worked as a technical writer and consultant, providing marketing and administrative services to a variety of small businesses and management firms in San Francisco. Bill currently serves on the Leadership Development Committee of the Slow Food Urban San Diego chapter and is helping to develop a strategic plan for this year-old non-profit. Previously, he served as the pro-bono administrator of an Adult Basic Education and GED Program for prison inmates in the Central Valley and as Outreach Coordinator for the Coalition on Homelessness in San Francisco. Bill earned two master’s degrees from San Diego State University – an MBA and an MA in Latin American studies. He earned his BS in computer science at San Francisco State University, and he studied English and economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He speaks four languages, lived in Europe for 5 years and conducted extensive field research in Mexico for his master’s degrees.

    1. May 2012 - Bonnie Dumanis

      District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis has earned a national reputation as a law enforcement leader and innovator. She took office in 2003 and is the first woman to serve as District Attorney for San Diego County. With public safety as her top priority, her office has maintained a 94 percent conviction rate. At the same time, DA Dumanis has focused on crime prevention, stopping the revolving door to prison, and helping victims. She has also increased transparency and public access to the DA's Office.



    2. Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher - April 10
      Nathan Fletcher has served as a State Assemblyman.  In just his first term in the State Assembly, Fletcher had twenty-one pieces of legislation signed into law, including bills relating to veterans, job creation, water infrastructure, pension reform, modernization of state government, health care, and public safety. He was instrumental in passing tax reform that will help create thousands of new California jobs, including many in the biotech and high-tech industries located in the San Diego region, and he stood up to out-of-state corporations in support of local businesses and jobs.

    3. Councilman Carl DeMaio - March 13
      Carl DeMaio is a businessman-turned-civic watchdog who represents the 5th District on the City Council. Carl offers voters a simple but timely pledge: Clean Up City Hall. After college, Carl founded two successful businesses before the age of thirty. In 2000, he launched the Performance Institute, a non-partisan, private think tank dedicated to reforming government through the principles of performance, transparency, competition and accountability.

    4. February 21, 2012 - Congressman Bob Filner
      Featuring San Diego startup owners: Ed Pletner from AVR Recycling and Marie Flacassier from Beatbabel. Our special guest: Congressman Bob Filner. Congressman Bob Filner represents California’s 51st Congressional District, one of the most ethnically diverse districts in the nation. Congressman Filner’s district encompasses southern San Diego County and all of Imperial County, including the entire California/Mexico border.   He is California’s Border Congressman.
